Hello, my name is Ursula and I’m a video and installation artist and educator.
I have a magpie approach towards my surroundings: my videos encompass re-enactments, video and sound phone recordings, screen tests, clips and audio scraped off the internet. So are the objects I work with: bark that has fallen off a tree, pebbles from a coast, car debris left on the street. My obsessions are questions around how we perceive and feel time, how we anticipate and expect events to happen, how we process and compartmentalise experiences, what we choose to take with us or leave behind.
My place is at the fringe of filmmaking – compositions drawing from essay film, video art and experimental film. I create a minimalist rhythm that works as a grounding base for all my video and audio elements; like a washing line on which you can hang all your bits.
